Location: Strathard Hub, Aberfoyle

Reports To: Gillian Kynoch, Chair of the Strathard Community Trust. Chair@strathardct.org.uk

About Us

Our aim is to support and improve the wellbeing, environment and prosperity of the community of Strathard, dedicated to enhancing the lives of residents across the villages and environs of Aberfoyle, Kinlochard, Stronachlachar, and Inversnaid. We work closely with the community, voluntary groups, local businesses and statutory bodies to foster sustainable development, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.

Role Overview

The Development Officer will play a vital role in supporting the Board of the Community Trust in delivering and developing community-led projects and activities. Strathard Community Trust (SCT) works out of the Strathard Hub on Aberfoyle Main Street. You will work closely with the Directors, Trust members, the community, volunteers, and partner agencies to help the SCT achieve its aims.

The Key Responsibilities

● Support the SCT by coordinating and supporting existing projects, including the volunteer driver service, wellbeing activities, and supporting voluntary groups and activities.
● Collaborate with outside agencies, residents and the Trust directors to design and test a range of community benefit activities based at the Strathard Hub or elsewhere in the locality – current ideas include youth activities, homework support, coding and hardware clubs, music, art and film initiatives.
● Manage role related administration tasks including reporting, record-keeping and evaluation.
● Support the SCT in the implementation of resilience measures, and the utilisation of the Hub as a community space during emergencies (e.g., flooding, power outages).
● Assist the SCT to facilitate lifelong learning and skills development.
● Support the SCT in the planning and delivery of existing and new community events such as the Gala and the Book Festival.

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Experience:

● Organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
● Communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a small, committed team.
● Competent in basic IT operations, familiarity with Google Platforms (e.g., printers, scanners).
● Understanding of rural community needs and resilience issues.
● Experience in project management, including evaluation.
● Flexibility to attend occasional evening and weekend events.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

● Understanding of inclusion, equality and diversity
● Experience with youth work or lifelong learning programmes.
● Fundraising, grant writing, or financial administration experience.
● Familiarity with using co-working spaces and supporting business development initiatives.
● Familiarity with PVG processes and organisations

Terms

● Contract Type: Part-time role with flexible hours and a fixed term contract of 1 year.
● Salary: £18.00 per hour
● Hours: 20 hours per week pro rata
● Start Date: As soon as possible
● The post is offered on a freelance basis
